Diabetes in action workshop

Nourishment Works offers a Diabetes in Action Workshop to encourage community for those living with diabetes and their families/supports. The following is additional information to help you decide if this workshop is a good fit!

Diabetes in Action

In a world where social pressures and distorted ideals often impact our relationship with food and our bodies, this group emerges as a sanctuary for healing and growth. Run by Kate, a licensed therapist, and Camille, a diabetes educator, this group will be a mix of therapeutic processing and practical skill building.

This workshop will harness the therapeutic power of a group to help members explore, express, and process their relationships with their diabetes.

The mission of this diabetes workshop

  1. Facilitate Healing Through Action: Our sessions use psychodrama—a therapeutic approach that employs guided drama (acting) and role-playing—to help individuals process their emotions and experiences related to diabetes. By re-enacting scenarios and exploring different perspectives, members can gain insights, release pent-up emotions, and develop helpful coping strategies.

  2. Diabetes Burnout Prevention: Diabetes is a chronic illness, and we are here to provide continuous support. Our group sessions address the underlying emotional and psychological factors contributing to diabetes burnout. We offer practical tools and emotional support to help individuals build attunement.

  3. Build a Community of Support: Isolation often accompanies struggles with chronic illness, including diabetes. This group provides a sense of community where members can share their stories, support one another, and celebrate progress together. This network of understanding peers is crucial for sustained well-being.

This group is currently being offered one time, IN PERSON at our office.  An intake session with one of the facilitators is required to join. Depending on interest and participation, the group has the potential to be ongoing.

The out of pocket cost is to be determined. BCBS PPO, Blue Choice PPO, United Healthcare & Medicare plans accepted.
