Nourishing skills Teens’ GrouP

Nourishment Works is excited to offer a Nourishing Skills group for teens. The following is additional information to help you decide if this group is a good fit!

As a practice we decided to offer a group specifically for teens to create community and together learn how to become experts at... self-care, intuitive eating, appreciating your body, the skills to fill your tool box. This group is for teens interested in learning more about attunement to your mind and body through a non-diet approach. It is also for those looking to establish a more positive relationship with food and their bodies! It is not required but recommended that you have The Intuitive Eating Workbook for Teens.

The following topics will serve as the foundation for this group's activities and discussions:

  • Learn to listen to your body's cues and honor them

  • Aim to achieve more balance with school/life/work

  • Transform a negative relationship with food and your body

  • View yourself and your body as a source of strength and wisdom

  • Learn the types of movement that are fun for you

Our first group session is full of activities to get the group connected and build safety. Each remaining week, the group is run in a classroom format where we dive deep into the topics listed above. In a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, we will have space for checking in and as we end each group we will have space for closure.  The group will be led through guided activities that will unpack skills to attuned living along with assignments to help solidify and build your attunement strengths.

How long is this group?

This group is currently being offered virtually and is 6 weeks in length. The out of pocket cost is $60 per group session. Check with us about using insurance. An intake session is required prior to joining.

“Developing an emotionally healthy relationship with food starts with doing some work on your own emotional health, including practicing self-care, feeling compassion rather than judgment for yourself (and all your emotions), and reminding yourself that food can not only give you physical health but also offer pleasure and satisfaction when you eat intuitively.” - Elyse Resch, MS, RDN
